Frederic Magnien 於1995年9月成立一個以自己同名Frederic Magnien酒商。由於沒有自己的葡萄園，與當地的酒農採用契做方式合作，遵循自然動力法.葡萄皆以40年老藤為主要選擇條件，並採購非常高品質的葡萄釀酒。近期買了Domaine Rémi Seguin近5.5公頃的葡萄園分佈在Nuits saint George, Vosne Romanee, Chambolle Musigny, Morey saint Denis and Gevrey Chambertin.期許未來能釀製更豐富且優雅的Pinot Noir。

Frédéric Magnien called 2010 an "excellent vintage and the resulting wines are classic in every respect. The 2009s are really marked by the vintage whereas the 2010s had a very slow maturation. The flowering was extended and the growing season itself was relatively cool. We waited to pick and began on the 25th of September. The fruit was really quite clean and while there was a bit of sorting but really no more than usual. It was also quite ripe and not one of my wines was chaptalized. The fermentations were about as easy as they can be and the wines almost made themselves. I didn't use any whole clusters though I did most of the fermentations with whole berries. I also did a heavy lees settling but it wasn't because they weren't clean; rather, I was afraid that the transparency of the wines might be compromised by the presence of too many lees which can impart bitterness. And in the same spirit of using only a small amount of super fine lees, I decided to use no press wine at all and I reduced the new wood to around 10%. I love the 2010s as they are more elegant and fresher than the 2009s and not as austere as the 2008s." In other news Magnien told me that he completed the purchase of Domaine Rémi Seguin of Gilly-lès-Cîteaux. The purchase has added 5.5 ha of vineyards that included vines in Nuits, Vosne, Chambolle, Morey and Gevrey

Tasting note: This is impressively refined with excellent breadth to the pure and elegant aromas that display a lovely range of spice elements along with a cool mélange of red and dark berry fruit and stone notes. The rich, supple and mouth coating big-bodied flavors possess very good phenolic maturity as the firm tannins are pushed to the background by the abundant dry extract, all wrapped in a highly complex, dusty and wonderfully long finish.

Tasting note: This is more elegant still with really lovely aromas of rose petals and red currant that give way seamlessly to the lilting, pure and intense middle weight flavors that culminate in a linear and impressively persistent finish.This is an understated and mildly austere effort that possesses a highly sophisticated mouth feel. Strongly recommended.

Tasting note: A restrained and cool nose of green apple, wet stone, lemon, lime and grapefruit leads to rich, powerful and admirably well-concentrated big-bodied flavors that possess really lovely detail on the tangy, driving and long finish. This is distinctly linear today and it will need to flesh out somewhat though the underlying material is certainly present such that it could very well do so.

Tasting note: This sports a highly complex nose with impressive fruit density to the spicy, earthy, floral and sauvage aromas that are dominated by cassis and black raspberry. The impressively rich and mouth coating full-bodied flavors possess fine power and plenty of muscle and terminate in a mineral-driven and strikingly long finish that possesses plenty of underlying tension. This should be excellent in time.
